Barbaro











Barbaro was foalded on April 29, 2003. He was sired by Dynaformer and out of La Ville Rouge. On the first Saturday of May 2006 Barbaro went to run in the Kentucky Derby with 6 to 1 odds and his jockey was Edgar Prado. Barbaro went to win the Derby by 6.5 lengths. The Preakness Stakes began after Barbaro broke through the gates and had to be reloaded. When back in the gates the race started and Barbaro broke well but then no more then twenty paces later he broke his right hind les in more than twenty places. Barbaro broke his Cannon, Sesamoid, and his ankle was dislocated and left dangleing. After being injured Barbaro was rushed to the University of Pennsylvania's New Bolton Center in Kennet Square, Pennsylvania. The next day Dr. Dean Richardson performed a fusion of the fetlock and pastern to stabilize the leg enough for Barbaro to walk on. the surgical team sucessfuly put a steel plate and 27 screws in his leg. Barbaro was then put into the recovery pool for a hour. After that he began to calmly awaken from the anesthesia and practicly jogged to his stall. By July 13, 2006 Barbaro had developed a sereous case of laminitis and 80% of his left hind hoof wall was removed. By August 8th Barbaro was showing good signs of recovery. August 15 Barbaro got to go out and graze for the first time since his accident. November 6, 2006 Barbaro's cast was removed completely. In early January Barbaro had more complications. It was then decided he would be euthinized. He was euthinized on January 29, 2007. He was then cremated shortly after he was euthenized. His remain have been place outside both Churchill Downs and the adjacent Kentucky Derby Meuseum. The Barbaro scultor was unveiled April 29, 2009. We will all remember Barbaro for his gallant effort he had a big heart. Like I say a horses strength is great but its heart is greater.

Big Brown







Big Brown was sired by Boundary and out of Mien. Big Brown was bought for $190,000 as a two year old by IEAH Stables. Winning his first race on September 3, 2007 by 11 1/4 lengths. After that Big Brown went unraced for six months. He made his three year old debut at Gulfstream Park in an Allowence race he won it by 12 lengths ridden by Kent Desormeaux. Big Brown was then entered into the Florida Derby again ridden by Kent Desormeaux starting in number 12 post position he went to win by 5 lengths. His fourth race was May 3, 2008 the kentucky Derby. He startyed from post position 20 not many horses won starting in that position. But big Brown went to win the derby by 4 & 3/4 lengths over the filly Eight Bells who was late euthinized. The final time for the Derby was 2:01:92. His fifth race was May 15, 2008 the preakness Stakes. Starting from position seven he went to win by 5 and a 1/4 lenghts with a time of 1:54:80. In the Belmont stakes Big Brown came in dead last the only loss in his life. On August 3, 2008 Big Brown won the Haskell Invitational Handicap winning it by 1 and 3/4 lengths. September 13, 2008 Big Brown ran in the Monmouth Stakes were he won by a narrow 1/2 length victory over Proudinsky. October 13, 2008 while wourking out Big Brown substained an injury to his hind hoof and was retired. He retired with a record of 8 starts 7 first and 1 last. With earnings of $3,614,500. Big Brown now resides at Three Chimneys Farm in Midway Kentucky. Awarded American Champion Three Year Old Male Horse 2008.
